Programme #37 (February 2020)

Panel from left: Aodh Ó Coileáin, Fiona McGarry, John Walsh and Paula Healy

There’s been a lot of discussion of late about the threat to the future of public service broadcasting and public service media in general so this month we bring you a panel of Galway-based experts to discuss the topic: NUI Galway lecturer in Communications and former broadcaster Aodh Ó Coileáin, NUI Galway lecturer in Journalism and practising journalist and broadcaster Fiona McGarry and Flirt FM station manager Paula Healy who is also a member of Community Radio Ireland. We also discuss research on the connection with Ireland provided by RTÉ’s long wave service to the diaspora in Britain with Dr Daithí McMahon of the University of Derby.
